About Canada Creek Regional Foundation

What We Do

About The CCR Foundation

The CCR Foundation, Inc. is a public charity focused on supporting projects that:

• Our foremost commitment is the dedicated effort to preserve and protect the woods, waters, lands, and diverse wildlife that define the Canada Creek Regional Watershed area. This vital mission safeguards a continuous, complex ecosystem that flows across several counties.
The watershed begins its journey with the headwaters along Canada Creek in Briley Township in northern Montmorency County. It then travels steadily north, carving its path through Allis Township in southwestern Presque Isle County. Finally, this crucial stream empties its clear waters into the Black River in Cheboygan County, significantly contributing to the health of that major tributary. Our work ensures the entire expanse of this beautiful, ecologically essential corridor—from its source to its confluence—remains healthy, vibrant, and resilient for generations to come.
• A key pillar of our mission is to dramatically increase the public’s awareness and knowledge concerning these vital natural resources. We believe that informed communities are the best conservators. Our educational focus targets the specific value and vulnerability of the Canada Creek ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity, clean water, and healthy forests. By providing research, educational tools, and field experiences, we seek to ensure that everyone recognizes the critical role these resources play in the region’s overall environmental and economic health.
• We are deeply committed to empowering the area’s young people through strategic investments in their education and development. This support includes providing post-secondary scholarships to local students pursuing higher education, offering essential assistance to local Boy and Girl Scout troops for projects and activities, and funding diverse educational and training opportunities. Our goal is to nurture the talent, skills, and knowledge that will further the positive development of future generations and ensure they become effective leaders and stewards of the Canada Creek region.
Your generosity is fully secured and tax-advantaged. We are proud to maintain our official public charity status with both the Michigan Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This essential designation means that all of your generous contributions to the CCR Foundation are fully tax deductible to the maximum extent permitted by law, ensuring your support is both impactful and fiscally responsible.

HISTORY OF CANADA CREEK REGIONAL FOUNDATION

Exploring Our Mission, Learn About Us

A dedicated group of conservation-minded volunteers from the Canada Creek Ranch membership took the initiative to establish a concerted effort. They organized a plan to actively encourage all residents and visitors of the Canada Creek watershed area to support vital preservation efforts aimed at maintaining and improving the region’s essential natural resources. Their vision is to foster widespread community participation in the long-term stewardship of the land.

SCHOLARSHIP UPDATES!

Trace Juergens

I recently graduated from Northern Michigan University with an associate of applied science in welding technology. I have now moved back to Atlanta and wish to further my career in welding.

My plan is to open up a welding shop at the former Dice’s Lumber on M-32. Harry Dice was my grandfather and there is nothing I would enjoy more than opening up shop and doing business in my home town at the old family business.

While I am working on the building it would be great to have some side jobs coming in to help get me up and going.

Thanks in advance for your encouragement and support!
